Looking for a villa with private pool? Congratulations, you’re definitely in the right place. We have almost 400 villas with pools across our collection, so you can enjoy that extra touch of luxury in all our destinations, from the Algarve to Zakynthos. But before you dive in, let’s take a moment to think about what kind of private pool will work best for your holiday. From gated pools and salt-filter systems to infinity pools for the ultimate wow factor, here’s our guide to villa holidays with private pools.
Villas with private infinity swimming pools
Believe it or not, infinity pools – also called vanishing edge pools – have been around since the 60s, but they weren’t really a fixture of villa holidays until the 2000s. Nowadays they’re seen as an essential ingredient for anyone looking for a luxury villa with a private pool. There’s nothing that quite compares to the feeling of being suspended in an endless flow, eyes on the horizon as the water cascades over the edge and blurs the line between sea and sky. And at the end of the day, when the sun drops low and the heavens turn pink and gold, the pool becomes the focal point of your evening: a perfect, private spot that’s better than any bar or restaurant terrace could ever be.
Family villas with private pools
Travelling with young kids? Water safety is paramount, and this is where a fenced or gated swimming pool can give you extra peace of mind. Some villas have a permanent lockable gate or fence around the pool, and you can search for these by using the handy filter on our site. As well as permanent gates, at many of our family villas with private pools in Mallorca we offer a temporary fencing service for your stay. Another useful addition is a very shallow paddling pool separated from the main pool. These are obviously ideal for non-swimming little ones, but they’re also a great place to sit and cool off when you don’t want to get your hair wet.
Villas with saltwater swimming pools
Contrary to what you might think, saltwater pools are not full of sea water! The more accurate name for this kind of private pool often found at villas is ‘saline-filtered’. These pools minimise the use of harsh chemicals by using a salt chlorine generator (electrolysis) to convert dissolved salt into chlorine to keep the pool sparkling clean and hygienic. It’s a great option to keep an eye out for if you want a family villa with private pool, because saline filters generally mean softer water which is gentler on young skin and eyes and. Good to know: they’re also less likely to give lightened hair that dreaded green tinge! Choose the 'saltwater pools' filter when searching for holidays on our site, or chat with a destination specialist for more information.
"We had a wonderful 3 generation holiday in Can Torrens. It was all on one level, spacious and well equipped with great air con! The pool and garden were a delight and the requested pool fencing worked brilliantly without looking intrusive. Very quiet, super views yet all so close to the beach and town. Suited us all perfectly." Mrs S, Mallorca
