One of only a small number of our villas to rate a straight 5/5 on all grading criteria, Villa Iremia has so much going for it that it seems almost unfair, and if you’re looking for somewhere to host a group or toast a special occasion, this elegant waterfront sanctuary would be a top recommendation. The seafront location is sublime, with views across the cerulean depths of Mirabello Bay to the rugged majesty of the opposite shoreline. There’s direct access to the crystalline sea below via paths that wind down through your private garden, and if you prefer a sandy beach, Ammoudara is just moments away on foot.

The house forms a wide V-shape, with arms wrapped protectively around the large pool and sun deck where you can relax in the warmth and revel in the views. The sense of space here is a joy, with landscaped Mediterranean gardens that stretch down to the sea, and 440sqm of sleek, contemporary interiors providing a glamorous backdrop to any occasion. From the marble floors to the statement lighting, the atmosphere is low-key luxe, accented by the brilliant southern sunshine that streams through floor-to-ceiling glass.

With six en-suite guest rooms and ample living space, Villa Iremia lends itself perfectly to entertaining, be it a pool-side barbecue (private catering is available) or a relaxed movie night with the kids. It’s a blissful base for an extended family gathering, just a three-minute walk from Ammoudara beach and the local tavernas, so teenagers can enjoy a little independence to come and go by themselves, and no one needs to drive if you prefer to eat out. Just a short drive away is fashionable Agios Nikolaos, a charming working town with a fabulous selection of restaurants and shops around the harbour. Your included hire car also brings the whole Mirabello Bay into easy reach, from sophisticated Elounda and haunting Spinalonga Island at one end to the wild, road-less-travelled beauty of Mochlos at the other.
